Winemaker Notes

Purple tinted with assertive red tones, Eolo unfolds layers of engaging aromas including ripe cherry, smoky coconut and hints of blueberry jam. Full bodied in structure, this wine has lively fruit flavors and sweet round tannins that allow for a long, smooth and lingering finish.

Enjoy with grilled meats including beef and game. Also excellent with spicy dishes, and aged cheeses.

The 2008 Eolo Malbec is blended with 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot and sees 18 months in French new oak. It is utterly refined on the nose with dark cherries, rose petals, Asian spices and a hint of bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, filigree tannins. It is a feminine Malbec with a satin-like texture and a caressing finish of blood orange and creme de cassis. This is a hideously expensive, but undeniably beautiful, succinctly crafted Malbec. Wonderful.

Eolo is apparently on the upswing in just its 3rd incarnation. The nose is deep and sweet, with licorice, rubber, lemon peel and tobacco to go with bold berry aromas. Shows immensity and structure in the mouth, with layered blackberry flavors and creaminess. Fades well, with tobacco and leather gracing the finish.

An ambitious wine, with ripe linzer torte, plum preserves and berry coulis fruit that's well-integrated with toasty notes of apple wood and tarry mineral, leading to the long, fruit-filled finish. An impressive effort for the vintage. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.

Trivento Winery Video

The Trivento portfolio of fine wines was founded in 1996 and is a true expression of Argentine wines, with more than 1,500 hectares of vineyards.

Trivento is named for the three winds that influence its vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina: the Polar, a cold wind from the south; the Zonda, a warming western wind sweeping down off of the Andes; and the Sudestada, or southeast blow, which brings freshness from the Atlantic and Río Plata estuary to the vineyards. At the foot of the Andes, strains of vines originating in the Old World are at home with terroirs of generous sun and careful hands.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
