Winemaker Notes

A rich purple-red introduces Lucente, flecked with luminous ruby highlights. The nose opens to a generous array of aromas, prominent among them fruity notes of wild cherry, dried plum, and blackberry preserves, lifted by toasty nuances of cocoa powder and black liquorice. The palate immediately impresses with its warmth and silky fabric, and with dense, fine-grained tannins, already well integrated. A superb structure, good alcohol, and crisp vein of acidity beautifully balance each other, and a long-lingering finish completes the overall harmony.

50 % Merlot, 35 % Sangiovese, 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2008 (La Vite) Lucente is a gorgeous wine laced with dark fruit, spices, mocha, licorice and new leather. This shows terrific minerality, freshness and verve, along with a round harmonious finish, all worth noting in the challenging 2008 harvest. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
