Bright on the palate. Volume, generous in every sense. A purple fruit spectrum unfolds – a fresh assortment of plums and dark berries – many varieties of both. What may appear to be a soft, smooth Haighs Chocolate-like mouth-coating to some… is a roasted eggplant texture/creaminess to others! Tannins – soft and even, texture - almost velvety/suede. Yet, still tarry!

Pitched as a showcase of warm-climate Australian shiraz, this takes its name from an area of the northern Barossa although it's a blend of regions ? namely Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Wrattonbully, Port Lincoln and the Clare Valley. It's a wine that begins with a coal/smoky edge, tarry and assertive oak, some mocha and roasted coffee, and then a mix of plum cake, raisins, blackberries, plum pie and caramelised meaty notes. The palate's full, soft and rich. The plum and blackberry-fruit flavors are bold and fleshy, matching well with tannins that are nicely played and hold the finish open and long. Really smooth, quite dense and even. Meaty and developed enough to drink now, even if this has the structure to take it through to 2025 and beyond.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Shiraz Kalimna Bin 28 is open for business with a gorgeous nose yielding tons of spice box and berry preserves notes, plus suggestions of licorice and chocolate box. It is soft and supple on entry in the mouth with rounded tannins, rich fruit and a long, spicy finish.

Notes of fresh clay, black tea, rosemary, mineral and black licorice expand on the finish. The tannins are dense and thick, providing a chewy background for all the flavors. Drink now through 2028.
