Winemaker Notes

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and balanced with vibrant aromas of blackberry, plum, vanilla and toasted oak. Concentrated flavors of rich cassis, plum and dark chocolate unfold gracefully across the palate with well-integrated fruit and tannins, and a long finish.

This powerful, fruit-forward wine calls for succulent, ?avorful dishes such as grilled tenderloin with roasted shallots, creamy bleu cheeses, pepper-rubbed pork chops or duck breast with grilled plums.

Blend: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 1% Petite Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Syrah.

This is extremely fine and focused with ultra-fine tannins and a beautiful black currant and spearmint undertone. Full and fruity. Yet reserved and interesting. A triumph for the price. Drink or hold.

Ripe and lush with dense and creamy style; rich texture and deep notes of chocolate and spice; intense and long.

The Indelicato family makes this wine at their Napa Valley property, using grapes from Oak Knoll, Rutherford, Atlas Peak and Oakville. It shows the quality of the 2013 vintage in deep, plummy flavors and warm notes of exotic spice. The tannins add umami breadth with scents of black mushrooms and earth. Ready to enjoy with braised lamb.

An affordable appellation wine, there’s an introductory whiff of meaty bacon that signals full-bodied goodness, followed by soft, integrated layers of cherry and vanilla. Thick and densely concentrated, it’s drinking well now and should please many palates.

Black Stallion Estate Winery is named in honor of the historic Silverado Horseman's equestrian center that once graced the property. The winery showcases the best of Napa Valley’s diverse wine growing regions by carefully selecting grapes from an array of vineyards that reflect different Napa Valley terroirs. In some instances it's a single vineyard block or a single row within a block. We blend the best lots to craft world-class wines, brimming with rich flavors and gracious, mouth filling textures.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
