Years ago, on a roadtrip winding through the valleys and mountains of Friuli in northeastern Italy, world-class chef Lachlan McKinnon-Patterson and Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey decided then and there to start making Friulian wines. Their love of the region’s varied foods and cultures and how those two intersect with the creation and enjoyment of wine was well-established, now it was time to start a winery. Bordered on the north and east by mountains, the south by the Adriatic Sea and the west by the river Livenza, Friuli prides itself on producing some of the world’s great pinot grigios. This offering comes from three of the region’s most famous and coveted areas: the valley of the Isonzo River, the rolling hills of Collio and historic Colli Orientali del Friuli. These cooler sites bring balance, lightness and delicate minerality to the glass. Settling the grapes in their skins for 12 hours, and then six months of stainless steel aging on the lees, ensures that the essence of Friuli proudly shows in every bottle.
