Garciarevalo Casamaro Verdejo 2018
Straw yellow wine with greenish reflections. Very clean aromas, where white fruit and tropical fruit stand out. The palate is soft, light, fresh and sparkles. It envelops you and is filled with freshness.
Try it with soft fish, sausages or dare to do it with fine cheeses that are not very strong.
Garciarevalo is a family-owned winery established in 1991 in Matapozuelos in the heart of Rueda. They specialize in Verdejo with additional plantings of Viura. They have 40 hectares of over-100-year-old-vines including Verdejo vines that are up to 130 years old. The unique qualities of this site are evident in the soils, which differ from most other areas of Rueda. The soil is sand here, allowing for excellent drainage and a greater difference between day and night temperatures. Long winters with late frosts combine with hot and dry summers to create the ideal situation for cultivating grapes with the perfect balance of sugar and acidity.
Believing that the key to a good wine is in the raw materials, Garciarevalo strives to make a wine as true to the fruit as possible. The utmost care and latest technologies are used to extract a juice that reflects the hard work and special attention given in the fields. The wines are then put through temperature-controlled fermentation to create a final product of the highest quality.Believing that the key to a good wine is in the raw materials, Garciarevalo strives to to make a wine that is as true to the fruit as possible. Rueda is located along the banks of the Duero River in Spain’s Castilla y León region, just a 2-hour drive north of Madrid. While winemaking in this area goes back to the 12th century, it was in the 1980s that the region was granted Denominación de Origen (D.O.) status. Today, more than 70 wineries call Rueda home. This national favorite is the top-selling white wine in Spain.
Notable facts Rueda’s main grape variety, Verdejo, gets it distinct complexity from stressful growing conditions and mineral-rich soil. Think of Verdejo as a fuller-bodied and more aromatic Sauvignon Blanc. A lush and smooth character with perfectly balanced acidity means Rueda wines pair well with seafood, fresh salads and spicy food, but are also great on their own.
Captivating and full of character, Verdejo grows with great success in Rueda, Spain and virtually nowhere else in Europe. It has become so trendy in Spain since the turn of the century that plantings have also increased tremendously. Somm Secret—Contrary to what some may think, it is actually not related to the Portugese variety with a very similar name, Verdelho. In fact, DNA profiling suggests it may be a sibling of Godello, another native of NW Spain.
