#83 of Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 of 2018
Dense, dark cherry red with bright highlights. Aromatically seductive and delicate, with fruit notes (wild strawberries) and a characteristic terroir-imparted mineral nuance (graphite). Subtle and elegant on the palate, with a silky mouthfeel that leaves a trace of sweet spices (vanilla) and an exquisite note reminiscent of candied orange rind. A well-aged wine that has matured magnificently in the bottle.

Very deep and pure cassis nose that is still very youthful. Super-elegant and polished tannins carry the full body that's packed with ripe cabernet flavors and a rare grace. The finish is stunning.

Spicy berry aromas are herbal, classy, elevated and lay out the red carpet for what's to come. This Bordeaux-style blend is deep and pure in feel, with energy, tannic power and depth. Blackened, toasty flavors include a ton of natural and wood-aided spice notes, licorice and pepper in particular. A well-built finish with chocolate and oak flavors concludes this superb Catalonian red.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The luxury blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot 2011 Reserva Real showed restraint, balance and very good elegance for a very warm growing season. The oak feels nicely integrated and the fruit seems to possesses enough concentration to counterbalance 18 months in new French barriques. The palate has the signature polished and sleek tannins and juicy fruit, with good acidity that provide very good balance. It's really very good and harmonious.

Wine Spectator
Cedar, leather and tobacco notes burnish this firm and focused red. There's a core of plum and dried cherry flavors, and good depth, brightened by orange peel acidity. Maturing, balanced and still lively. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

In 2020, Familia Torres Winery is celebrating their 150th anniversary, but the family’s roots extend even farther than that. The first mention of the Torres wine family was in 1557, but the winery wasn’t established until 1870, when the profits from the family shipping company made it possible to enter the commercial wine space.
Miguel Torres Vendrell founded the company, and since then, the family has passed on the winery (and the name Miguel) steadfastly from generation to generation. They hit a setback when the winery was bombed during the Spanish civil war, but Miguel Torres i Carbó rebuilt, and began the bottling and exporting of the wine.
In 1991, Miguel A. Torres took the reigns, and remains president today. He made remarkable strides in environmental advocacy, social responsibility, fair trade, and research and innovation. Since 2012, Miguel Torres Maczassek has been at the helm, and has continued his father’s work, while also embarking on his own projects. Recognized year after year and Drinks Internationals’ “World’s Most Admired Wine Brand,” the story of Familia Torres is a known and respected one throughout Spain and the world.
Juan Torres Master Distillers is the spirits division of Familia Torres. Its origins date back to 1928 when Juan Torres Casals of the family’s second generation began making aged brandies matured in oak casks; smooth and aromatic spirits distilled from a selection of the finest white Penedès (Barcelona) wines. With 90 years to its name, Juan Torres Master Distillers continues to perfect the art of distillation to this day – a constant pursuit of excellence that finds reflection in each one of its ten, exquisitely crafted spirits, including brandy, pisco, and orange liqueur produced under the brands Torres Brandy, El Gobernador, and Magdala. These elegant, personality-driven spirits find their perfect match in the world of mixology, where they live up to the expectations of a new consumer who delights in shared moments of superior quality.
One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.
A superior source of white grapes for the production of Spain’s prized sparkling wine, Cava, the Penedes region is part of Catalunya and sits just south of Barcelona. Medio Penedès is the most productive source of the Cava grapes, Macabeo, Xarel-lo, and Parellada. Penedes also grows Garnacha and Tempranillo (here called Ull de Llebre in Catalan), for high quality reds and rosès.
