Steely, with notes of dried apples and salted lemons. The medium- to full-bodied palate is savory and saline, with an attractive, tight and delineated profile of white fruit and stones. From a single vineyard in the eastern part of the appellation, planted on schist soils. Very pleasant and direct, with a subdued creaminess.

The 2024 Val do Galir A Malosa Godello was produced with Godello from their 21-hectare A Malosa vineyard in the village of Éntoma in the Galir Valley, where they have different expositions, altitudes (400 to 600 meters) and slate and schist soils. It fermented in stainless steel vats, oak foudres and 500- and 600-liter barrels and matured in the foudres and barrels for seven months. They want to go beyond the yellow apple notes in the Godello, and it's pale, clean and precise. Like all 2024s, it's very young but harmonious with some herbaceousness. It has good ripeness, 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.0 and 7.2 grams of acidity and a chalky texture. It's serious and elegant.

A well-cut white, lithe and balanced, with a chalky mineral underpinning and notes of grapefruit sorbet, crunchy white peach, lentil and lanolin. Drink now through 2031.

Godello is native to northwest Spain and has experienced a major revival in the last 20 years. Godello wines are typically sleek and lightly creamy in texture. Barrel fermentation and lees stirring are typical in Valdeorras, Spain where the grape comes from. These winemaking techniques make the most of Godello's inherent structure and help bring out its lovely floral character. Somm Secret—DNA profiling says that Spain’s Godello is actually identical to the Portugese grape variety Gouveio, which grows throughout the Douro and Dão (where it used to mistakenly be called Verdelho).

Just to the south of Bierzo, the steeply terraced Valdeorras Spanish wine region is a respected source of both red and white wines. Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) and Mencía are the principal red varieties while Godello and Palomino compose the majority of this region's whites.
