Winemaker Notes
The color is bright, deep morello cherry-red. The nose reveals aromas of blackberries, raspberries and ripe strawberries with just a touch of tobacco and spices such as clove and cinnamon. It is a medium-bodied wine with elegant structure, balanced acidity and very ripe, elegant tannins. The finish is moderately-long, dominated by red fruits and followed by sweet vanilla and black pepper.

his is a wine I very much enjoyed thanks to its pretty brightness and understated simplicity. The Domaine 2022 Nemea Agiorgitiko Saint George doles out a quick succession of tart berry aromas, raspberry, wild rose and grenadine. The mid-weight mouthfeel delivers some softness, but the wine's texture is consistently smooth and vibrant. It ferments and ages in oak, and fruit for the wine is selected from across five villages in the Nemea appellation. I'm pleased to highly recommend this fundamentally food-friendly value red.
Native the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece, Agioritiko is the star variety here and in fact, the only one permitted to carry the Nemea appellation. While it favors the hot Mediterranean climate of Greece, it performs best in Nemea’s high altitude mountain vineyards between 1,350 to 2,000 feet where fully ripe grapes can also achieve great acidity and structure. Somm Secret—As one of Greece's oldest varieties, wines made from Agioritiko were historically often associated with the half-god Heracules and referred to as the "Blood of Heracles.”
Home of Greece’s famous and praise-worthy red variety, Agiorgitiko, Nemea is part of the Peloponnese.
