Red White Sparkling Rosé Spirits GiftsLearn about Aligoté — taste profile, popular regions and more …
Perfect ripeness balanced with a notable acidity makes Aligoté a unique white wine grape in Burgundy. Unfortunately Aligoté often ends up unfairly lost in Chardonnay’s shadow—though not always! It does have its very own appellation in the quaint village named Bouzeron, just south of the Côte de Beaune, in Côte Chalonnaise. Some of the world’s very best come from here. Vignerons in the New World experiment with the grape but it is also widely cultivated in the Eastern European countries of Romania, Burlgaria, Ukraine, and Moldova.
Tasting Notes for Aligoté
Aligoté is a dry white wine with a uniquely intense citrus fruit character balanced by floral notes of honeysuckle blossom and a supple texture on the palate.
Perfect Food Pairings for Aligoté
Fried chicken, chitterling sausages, baked fish, fish & chips and dishes with goat cheese are perfect food pairings for Aligoté.
Sommelier Secrets for Aligoté
Curiously, the famous producer, Domaine Ponsot, bottles a 100% Aligoté from vines planted in 1911 from the Morey-Ste-Denis Premier Cru, Les Monts Luisants.
