Winemaker Notes
There are hundreds of white grape varieties grown throughout the world. Some are indigenous specialties capable of producing excellent single varietal wines. Each has its own distinct viticultural characteristics, as well as aroma and flavor profiles.
One of Germany’s smallest regions on the Rhine River, Mittelrhein’s steep and well-drained, heat-absorbing slate and quartzite vineyards are perfect for Riesling. Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir) accounts for about 10% of total vineyard acreage.
