Winemaker Notes

This old indigenous variety has nearly disappeared--only 1.5 hectares are still cultivated in the Alto Adige--and Nusserhof is one of its last three growers! The name Blaterle means “little leaf” in German. Historically, it was used to produce a sweet wine served with roasted chestnuts, but the Mayrs vinify it dry, gently pressing it and aging it in steel tank with temperature control. The vines are certified-organic and hand-harvested.
