Winemaker Notes

Purple with shades of violet and streaks of ruby. A complex aromatic profile typical of this varietal, rich and defined, with a good intensity of fruit with blueberries, ripe red currents and raspberries, hints of aromatic herbs and a hint of sweet pepper. On the palate, it is elegant with hints of fruit and spices; the structure is sculped by a smooth tannin, tight and composed, with a lasting finish.

The nose is decadent, but also fresh, vibrant and almost impossibly youthful with raspberries and plums. The palate toes a similar line between elegance and fun, as rich notes of soil and leather balance the berries and vanilla playing beneath a spicy crackle of pepper.

The 2017 Cabernet Franc Di Vignamaggio is expressive with kirsch, tobacco, licorice, and incense. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with ripe yet present tannins and an incredible energy that drives through the wine, balancing a sunny and warming finish. Notes of plum, leather, and forested earth work together in concert.

This is linear and tight with very fine tannins to the big and rich body. Lovely mouthfeel, too. Hints of nuts, buttressing the ripe fruit.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
