Welcome to Vacqueyras, nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail in the heart of the Rhone Valley. A group of men and women, passionate about winemaking and guided by years of experience, craft wines of character from this outstanding terroir.

The early 21st century has definitely been marked by the information revolution. The world is now a village, and visitors to Vacqueyras are no longer limited to our close European neighbors. The Vignerons de Caractère have always been forward-looking. After extending our cellars, we are now pleased to have an area over 500 m² to age our bottled wines and welcome wine lovers. However, our ambitions do not stop there because in 2009 we are opening a restaurant in the heart of our premises, in a cellar wine formerly used to age wine in barrel. It is now more easier than ever to share our passion for wine and our rich, but fragile terroir, and to highlight the superb products found in our region.

To open a bottle of Vacqueyras is to share the love and devotion of 80 families for their vines and precious soil, and the atmosphere of a village famous for its poetic charm. ..

Full-bodied and flavorful, white Rhône blends originate from France’s Rhône Valley. Today these blends are also becoming popular in other regions. Typically some combination of Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier form the basis of a white Rhône blend with varying degrees of flexibility depending on the exact appellation. Somm Secret—In the Northern Rhône, blends of Marsanne and Roussanne are common but the south retains more variety. Marsanne, Roussanne as well as Bourboulenc, Clairette, Picpoul and Ugni Blanc are typical.

This charming appellation within the Côtes du Rhône Villages was second only to Gigondas to earn its own village appellation status. Its wines may be red, rosé or white—though hardly any is white. Its high winemaking standards follow many of the same rules as Chateauneuf-du-Pape. But for Vacqueyras red wines, half of the grapes have to be Grenache and the remainder is usually a combination of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault.

While they can be robust and rustic in style, typically a great Vacqueyras red combines delicate aromas with intense fruit and a bright, crisp texture. They certainly don’t lack any character and show an abundance of black cherry, wild berry, plum, fig, baking spice, and a touch of game or smoke.
