Winemaker Notes

Grapes are hand and machine harvested and transported to the winery in small crates. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts in temperature controlled tanks with the maceration period lasting approximately two weeks. The wine is aged on its lees with 70% in tank and 30% in large oak barrels. The finished wine is lightly filtered and fined followed by a minimum of 3 months in bottle prior to release.

The 2015 Côte du Rhône is a blend of 65% Grenache and the rest Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan. It offers a terrific bouquet of violets, cracked peppercorns, blackberries and scorched earth. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and balanced, with fine, chewy tannin, it's a value to enjoy over the coming 4-5 years.

Violet, bramble and fresh thyme accentuate bright blackberry and plum in this velvety, rich red. While its juicy, floral style is approachable, the wine is surprisingly bold in structure, framed by dense, penetrating tannins and brisk acidity.

Typically thought of as a baby Chateâuneuf-du-Pape, the term Côtes du Rhône actually doesn’t merely apply to the flatter outskirts of the major southern Rhône appellations, it also includes the fringes of well-respected northern Rhône appellations. White wines can be produced under the appellation name, but very little is actually made.

The region offers some of the best values in France and even some first-rate and age-worthy reds. Red wine varieties include most of the Chateâuneuf-du-Pape varieties like Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Counoise, as well as Carignan. White grapes grown include Grenache blanc, Roussanne and Viognier, among others.
