John Anthony Truchard’s family-owned vineyard in Carneros bathes in just the right amount of cool night air to allow the grapes to linger longer on the vine, encouraging sugars to gently rise and join with the natural acid of the fruit. Noted winemaker Brian Brakesman, whose expertise in the ways of sauvignon blanc was honed on the sea- and sun-drenched hillsides of New Zealand’s South Island, shows the restraint and respect of a delicate hand in allowing the nuance of the famed winemaking soil to show itself in the bottle.
