    Winemaker Notes

Straw yellow color with golden hints, to the nose it shows intense and persistent perfumes of wild flowers and aromas of yellowpulp fruit such as peach, apricot and golden apple. To the palate it's rich and velvety with a good dose of freshness and sapidity to balance the great softness. Dry finish, persistent and intensely fruity.

Ideal with fish dishes, oven-cooked or grilled, roast white meat and fresh cheeses.

Since the beginning of its history, the Azienda Vinicola Umani Ronchi has distinguished itself as a great producer of two of the most popular wines in the Marche region, Verdicchio and Rosso Conero. Massimo Bernetti, who since the 1990s has been joined in the management of the company by his son, Michele, has refurbished the winery in Osimo, Marche, renovated the vineyard stock and created wines which have garnered international praise. Still, Bernetti is not yet satisfied and insists on continuing to work to enhance his product. This translates into serious work in the vineyard and the adoption of the most advanced techniques of cultivation and vinification.

Stretching along Italy’s eastern coast with neighbors, Umbria to its west and Abruzzo to its south, Marche is a region with a varying climate from north to south. Its coastal plains roll into hills that become the Apennine Mountains, which run the length of the country. The Marche's best red wines come from the grapes, Montepulciano and Sangiovese; the local Verdicchio makes refreshing, crisp and light whites.

    Verdicchio

    View all wine

One of central Italy’s classic white grapes, Verdicchio thrives in the Marche region; its best versions come from two distinct appellations. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, to the west of Ancona, is only 20 miles from the Adriatic Sea and the smaller, Verdicchio di Matelica, is more inland and at a higher elevation. Castelli di Jesi is Marche’s largest DOC but its best wines come from its hillside vineyards. The best Verdicchio wines boast fresh citrus fruit with a mineral lift, a sturdy finish and the potential to age for a decade. Recent genetic discoveries have proven that the Verdicchio grape is identical to Trebbiano di Soave, Trebbiano di Lugana and Trebbiano Veltenesi.
