    Winemaker Notes

Mead Ranch seems to miraculously improve year after year, proving you should never settle even when you think you've attained excellence. Located on a plateau atop Atlas Peak in Napa, the Bay's cooling influence is easily felt—you can even see San Francisco on a clear day. Because of the general freshness of this microclimate, the vines have longer hang times, which lend the wine structure & balance. Graphite, minerals, and distinct mountain spice dominate the nose, while the palate reflects its terroir with a savory/smoked meat element.

    Turley
Turley Wine Cellars was founded in 1993 by Larry Turley and makes thirty-four wines, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture.

All of Turley’s vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and the winery uses all natural yeasts in the fermentations.

Turley aims to be stewards of some of California’s most distinctive vineyards, producing authentic wines that reflect their heritage.

The Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without thinking of the other. Although Cabernet has many important outposts throughout the wine world, nowhere else has it achieved such success (and, at the highest end, commanded such lofty prices) than in Napa. Here, it is responsible for bold, opulent, and dark-fruited wines with grippy tannins and a healthy dose of alcohol. The best examples can age for decades. Each of Napa’s smaller sub-AVAs imparts a different character to Cabernet, such as Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
