Winemaker Notes

A showstopper from first encounter to last sip—this Petite Sirah opens with a rich potpourri of dried rose petals, black cherry, sage, and black pepper. On the palate, cardamom and clove envelop dense fruit and soft notes of vanilla. Velvety tannins give way to never ending juicy fruit on the finish. This wine will continue to shine for years to come.

An excellent pairing with smoked brisket, braised short ribs, grilled steak, and wild game. This petite also pairs well with hearty stews, charcuterie, and dark chocolate.

Fermented with 35% whole clusters in open top, stainless steel tanks. Aged in 30% new French Oak barrels for 20 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered.

This dramatic, smoky and concentrated wine offers a compelling aroma of charcoal and grilled rosemary, followed by 90% cacao chocolate, blueberries and seared beef. It's firmly tannic but not overly full bodied, giving a balanced impression on the palate that keeps it approachable, not heavy. Best from 2026.Cellar Selection

An elegantly layered red, with blueberry and kirsch flavors accented by dusky spice and black olives. Finishes on a vibrant, crisp note. Drink now through 2028.

With its deep color, firm tannins and bold flavors, there is nothing petite about Petite Sirah. The variety, originally known as Durif in the Rhône, took on its more popular moniker after being imported to California in the early 1880s. Quintessentially recognized today as a grape of the Golden State, Petite Sirah works well blended with Zinfandel and finds success as a single varietal wine in the state’s warmer districts. Somm Secret—Petite Sirah is not a smaller version of Syrah but it is an offspring of Syrah and the now nearly extinct French Alpine variety called Peloursin.
