A new red blend of 50% Garnacha with 50% Cariñena, the 2019 Pas de Deux Coreografia was inspired by the love of winemaker Tatjana Peceric for dance. The grapes were sourced from 50- to 60-year-old vines at 700 meters in altitude in the village of Cornudella del Montsant that are in the process of being certified in biodynamic farming. Half of he volume fermented in amphorae and the rest in stainless steel, always with indigenous yeasts, and it matured in those vessels for six moths before it was bottled. The ripening cycle is very slow here, and the soils are a light red with lots of gypsum, which also seems to add a chalky feeling in the texture. This is clean, elegant, aromatic and expressive.

Though they originated from France’s southern Rhône Valley, with some creative interpretation, Rhône blends have also become popular in other countries. Somm Secret—Putting their own local spin on the Rhône Red Blend, those from Priorat often include Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In California, it is not uncommon to see Petite Sirah make an appearance.
