Winemaker Notes
The Grenache fruit shines with a wild beauty, elegance and whimsy untouched by any oak contact. Enticing aromas of crunchy cherry and blackberry lead into an herbal yet ethereal brilliance that refuses to be pinned down. Medium-bodied, with silky red fruit flavors, deep spice and hints of licorice. A wine of equal parts ease and elegance, rugged and refined, and woven with a web of fine-grained tannins and a lingering mineral finish.
An incredible homage to the cool Montsant slopes with body, structure, and enough freshness to honor any Mediterranean fare.

Attractive and fresh, with red cherries, red berries and touches of chalk and white pepper. Quite bright and juicy, with high acidity, firm, crunchy tannins and a long, lively finish.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The red called simply 2022 Negre ("red" in Catalan language) is pure Garnacha from the south of Montsant that fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, where the wine matured for six months. It has 14% alcohol and a pH of 3.59. It's pure fruit, very expressive, varietal and open with a sense of purity and harmony. It has a beautiful nose that is floral and clean, with red fruit notes. It's juicy and light but with some grip that gives it seriousness. Like most of the range in 2022, they are a little warmer and rounder, varietal but not banal. This comes from purchased grapes that are worked organically. It's very young but approachable. Beautiful.

Vinous
The 2022 Negre is 100% Garnatxa Negra from Montsant, fermented with whole clusters and stabilized in stainless steel tanks. Bright garnet in hue, this delicate wine reveals aromas of orange peel, chocolate and a faint sponge cake note. Dry, lean and refreshing, it offers a claret-like palate with a savory, easygoing flow-a modern take on Montsant.
Grenache thrives in any warm, Mediterranean climate where ample sunlight allows its clusters to achieve full phenolic ripeness. While Grenache's birthplace is Spain (there called Garnacha), today it is more recognized as the key player in the red blends of the Southern Rhône, namely Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône and its villages. Somm Secret—The Italian island of Sardinia produces bold, rustic, single varietal Grenache (there called Cannonau). California, Washington and Australia have achieved found success with Grenache, both flying solo and in blends.
