Winemaker Notes

The 2022 Palazzi is the child of a vintage where the weather during spring and summer brought structure and concentration of aromas, while the September rains added joy and grace. The end result is a Merlot with lots of vibrancy and vigor. The bouquet reveals notes of dark berry fruits and cooking spices underlined by balsamic sensations, while the taste is rich and compact with velvety tannins and a long, long finish.

Professional Ratings

The polish and precision is impressive, with a refined and polished texture that runs the length of the wine. It’s medium-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a persistent finish. Juicy and savory with citrus and fresh herb undertones.

This is a lovely Merlot from a hot vintage that walks a fine line by showing the elegant side of the grape without the excessive ripeness you might expect. The Tenuta di Trinoro 2022 Palazzi delivers a big pleasure factor—in the best Merlot tradition—with a molten combination of sweet cherry and spice. The tannins are soft, and this full-bodied Tuscan red is textured and rich. The high alcohol content measures 15.5%, but that heat is hidden well within.

Enticing aromas and flavors of black currant, blackberry, cedar, iron and tobacco mark this supple, complex red. There’s plenty of depth, with a solid structure amplified by bright acidity. Shows fine balance and length overall, with a long, kaleidoscopic aftertaste. Merlot.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
