Winemaker Notes

Palazzi this vintage is made of Merlot from a single vineyard we call Strada Vecchia, all from our first day of harvest on the 24th of September. In the glass it shows white aromas of spring, the way prunes are white to the eye when they blossom in March. The wine manages to fill the palate completely, then it gets fat and points downwards to a brutal earthiness.

Also undeniably beautiful, the 2016 Palazzi shows inky black extraction and penetrating intensity. This pure expression of Merlot delivers rich notes of tobacco weaved in with ripe fruit, spice, dried blackberry and blackcurrant. There are also some pleasant undertones of raisins and figs that come with the early-ripening grape in a hot year such as 2016. The wine is fermented in steel vats and aged in new oak for eight months before going into cement vats for an additional 11 months.

Ripe and fruity, this expressive red boasts blackberry, black cherry and plum flavors, accented by graphite and tobacco notes. Features plenty of structure for support, and the finish is long, echoing ripe fruit and mineral elements. Best from 2021 through 2032.

Cedar, black-skinned berry, leather and peppercorn aromas form the nose. The brawny palate offers prune, dried black cherry and licorice alongside the warmth of evident alcohol. Fine-grained tannins provide polished support.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
