Winemaker Notes

Rich vibrant purple and red hues present in this wine. Cassis, black cherry, and ripe black plumb combine with black pepper, and mocha with a hint of black olive. Flavors of juicy blackberry and cassis are encompassed with black licorice and lightly toasted oak. This is a structured Cabernet with length, flavor, and style.

A firm, silky red with soft, tight tannins that nicely frame this juicy and delicious red with currant and berry character. Not the biggest wine, but thoroughly delicious already. Drink or hold.

The value-priced 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is also well done in this vintage, and it has to be one of the better efforts under $50. Lots of mulled dark fruits, dried herbs, lead pencil, and earth emerge from this plump, spicy, character-filled effort. It's well worth drinking and will keep for a decade.

COMMENTARY: The 2017 St. Supéry Cabernet Sauvignon is resolute in showing how excellent the Rutherford AVA performs. TASTING NOTES: This wine exhibits picture-perfect aromas and flavors of black fruit and a light touch of oak. Pair it with a juicy, grilled ribeye. (Tasted: May 1, 2020, San Francisco, CA)

Dark berry dominates a waxy texture in this soft, gently tannic wine—a likably approachable and value-minded offering that delivers full flavor within a graceful frame.

With St. Supéry’s reputation based on its valuable Napa Valley properties, a primary goal is to support biodiversity and sustainability while continuing the founding vision of a Napa Valley chateau for generations to come. St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery was founded in 1982. The diversity of Dollarhide’s terroir contributes to the successful farming of red and white Bordeaux varieties.

All the estate acreage owned by St. Supéry is farmed sustainably using minimal intervention and cultivation.
