Winemaker Notes
An homage to Signorello's charismatic founder, the "Padrone" Cabernet Sauvignon is the inimitable expression of their estate vineyards defining the elegance and richness that comes naturally to the site. Concentrated, intense dark cherry, plum, crushed potpourri, dried herbs, cedar and earthy notes lead the exceptional finesse and purity of this wine. It is texturally rich, resonant and persistent.
Blend: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 1% Malbec

Lastly, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Padrone comes from the warmer, west-facing slope in front of the property and is based on 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, and the rest Malbec raised in 50% new oak. It's a bigger wine than Signori yet certainly plays in the focused, elegant, very classic expression of this site. Cassis, black cherries, savory herbs, iron, and baking spice notes all shine here, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered, elegant mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish.

Decanter
A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, and 1% Malbec with fruit from both the western and eastern reaches of the estate and a mix of vine ages with some dating back to the 1990s. Aged 18 months in 50% new French oak. The flagship wine of the Signorello estate in 2021 shows a bold, expressive and focused Cabernet in the glass, with perhaps the most focus and tension I've experienced from the winery in the few years I've been tasting the wines. Loads of crunchy red and black fruit, fragrant white pepper, tobacco, dried floral notes, and a mix of savoury sagebrush, black olive and red liquorice are framed by massive beams of expansive and towering tannins. A tremendous effort from this estate.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Padrone is fabulous. It emerges from a combination of east and west-facing parcels on the property. Rich and sumptuous but with notable freshness, the 2021 is a fine example of the new house style at Signorello. There is a feeling of mid-weight classicism here that is undeniably appealing.

What a comeback for Signorello after devastating wildfire damage to the winery in recent years. This deep, dark wine is super-concentrated in blackberries, dried blueberries, espresso beans and cacao, while wrapped in a silky texture that belies excellent tannin structure for further aging.

Signorello's top red is the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Padrone, a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot and 1% Malbec. While somewhat cedary, it doesn't come across as over-baked but rather as a deep, savory style, with plenty of loamy earth notes and black olives. It's full-bodied and richly tannic but ripe, velvety and long on the finish.

Bursts with violet, iris, boysenberry and blackberry aromas and flavors. Rippling with bright energy, this is carried by sleek, fine-grained tannins as it all spills through the finish, with a sense of control and focus. Deliciously vibrant. Drink now through 2036.
One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.
Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
