Shafer Relentless 2002
A blend of 81% Syrah and 19% Petite Syrah, the inky/purple-colored 2001 Relentless exhibits notes of creosote/graphite intermixed with blackberry liqueur and acacia flower characteristics. This full-bodied, intense effort's beautiful integration of new oak, acidity, and tannin make it accessible now, but there is plenty of structure underneath the rush of fruit and glycerin. Drink this stunning effort over the next decade.
