James Suckling
What a beautiful riesling Kabinett this is. Barely off-dry thanks to the stunning mineral freshness and intense wildflower character on the sleek, light-bodied palate. Very straight and clean, with enormous energy in the extremely focused and refreshing finish.

Vinous
The 2023 Riesling Bockenauer Felseneck Kabinett is from three terraces facing southwest, which see the morning sunlight two hours later but hang onto the last rays of afternoon sun. It has the most intriguing nose of green apple, pale rose petals and vivid lemon. The tingling, light-footed palate pirouettes along on tiptoe, swirling up citrus, apple, mint, orange and tangerine, dazzling, joyful and weightless. This pitches 45-50 g/L of residual sugar against 9.5 g/L acidity. (Medium)
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
