Winemaker Notes
'Calasole' is the name of the sea breeze that rises at sunset in Maremma on the west coast of Tuscany. Produced with 100% Vermentino, which is a variety that identifies the area for white wine, it is aged exclusively in stainless steel to preserve and emphasize its fresh varietal aromas.
Rich in body and fresh with acidity, this wine is a great alternative to Chardonnay and can pair with shellfish, grilled chicken and pastas with butter or cream sauces.

I appreciate the freshness here, delivered by aromas of limes, fresh herbs and juniper berries. Compact with angular acidity to freshen up this medium-bodied white and drive through the citrus fruit.

COMMENTARY: The 2018 Rocca di Montemassi Calasole is an attractive, rewarding Vermentino. TASTING NOTES: This wine comes to the party with open-knit aromas and flavors of ripe fruit and lightly-toasted almonds. Enjoy it with a grilled chicken and arugula on a flatbread. (Tasted: July 9, 2020, San Francisco, CA)
