Winemaker Notes

Intense ruby red in color. Sweet red berries, roses and licorice are among the aromas and flavors that emerge from this great red. It has a polished, supremely elegant personality, and a great structure with a pleasant long finish.

Ideal with long-cooked meat dish and barbecues. Delicious with aged cheeses.

We are finally seeing some very exciting results from Paolo Panerai's Rocca di Frassinello estate in northern Maremma, Tuscany. The 2012 Maremma Toscana Rocca di Frassinello is a thickly extracted and beautifully favored red blend. The richness of the wine is very attractive and the bouquet peels back with chocolate, candied cherry, pressed blackberry and grilled herb. The wine shows exceptional texture with firm tannins that are enveloped within fleshy berry flavors.

Cinnamon, incense, plums and shaved chocolate. Robust tannins. Full-bodied.

A mix of cherry, earth, leather and tobacco flavors highlights this structured red. Tightens up on the finish, with a dry, savory aftertaste. A restrained style.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
