Quail Ridge Volker Eisle Reserve Merlot 1998

The wine has been sculpted by extended aging in small oak barrels. This has allowed us to capture a delicate balance between elegant fruit and supple tannins, reinforced by a good acid structure. The 1998 Volker Eisle Reserve Merlot possesses a deep, rich, red color. On the nose, jammy fruits pre-dominate with a hint of cedar and spice. On the palate, the rich fruit characters found in the aroma are amplified, with a concentrated center of blackberry and brambly fruits showing through. The wine is medium weight with structured tannins in the finish, which should provide for an extended aging.
