Winemaker Notes

It is both a wine and a challenge which Jurij Fiore, a professional winemaker trained in Burgundy, posed to himself, in this case measuring himself against grapes entirely of Bordeaux origin. The results are simply excellent, i.e. a wine which is refined and complex in aroma, suave, velvety, and austere on the palate.

This is very fine and classy with a purity of sangiovese that gives a blueberry and cherry character throughout. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a racy and pretty finish. Bordeaux blend and happening. Better in 2018.

The 2013 Capogatto is a gorgeous wine with a true and underlying sense of focus and sharpness. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot make up the blend. The fruit tones, with wild berry and dried blueberry, are delivered in a clean and linear fashion. Sweet oak and baking spice fill in the rear. This is a dark and thickly saturated wine with sweet tannins and deep layers of plum, cinnamon and chocolate that peel off in slow succession.

A blend of equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this opens with aromas of French oak, blueberry and chopped Mediterranean herb. The soft, medium-bodied palate offers juicy black cherry, cassis, coffee and a hint of mint alongside round, polished tannins.

Graphite, cherry, raspberry and pepper flavors converge in this red, supported by a firm and lively structure. Combines power and elegance, with a long aftertaste of mineral and earth. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2017 through 2027.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
