Winemaker Notes
Dark, luminous ruby red colour predominant aromas include refined spices, sour cherry and blackcurrants, balsamic notes, vanilla and resinated aromas of Mediterranean pine; a highly classical expression of a native tuscan wine. On the palate the tannin is dense and elegant, and heading towards a soft, velvety feel.
To bring out the best in the wine, match with local products, such as cheeses, cured meats, pasta with meat sauce or grilled meats.

Very tasty red here, with bright berries and cherries, as well as light spice and citrus notes that keep it fresh through to the end. Medium-bodied with lemon-stained tannins that are lightly firm and very attractive. Nicely done. Like it. Sangiovese, foglia tonda and pugnitello. Drinkable now, just for the lemony-tannin sensation, but best after another year. Try from 2023.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of the native grapes Sangiovese, Foglia Tonda and Pugnitello, the Podere Il Castellaccio 2019 Valénte has a very dark personality with black cherry, redcurrant, dried blackberry and plum. There is a good amount of spice, cinnamon and fragrant cedar as well. The wine is lean and tart on the close, but it offers an authentic look at three of Tuscany’s most underappreciated workhorse grapes.
Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.
A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
