Winemaker Notes
Aromas of fresh dark cherries, plum, blackberry; a touch of sweet oak and vanilla; dark spices and a hint of pie spices. Flavor is a soft, silky entry with sweet red fruits, spice and vanilla notes; good mouthfeel and a long ripe fruit finish.
Blend: 60% Zinfandel, 23% Syrah, 9% Petite Verdot, 8% Viognier

COMMENTARY: Serious yet fun, the Playtime label made me take a second look. Should I be expecting a soft, smooth, and sugary wine? Or could this clever blend of grape varieties be delectable? The 2015 Playtime Red shows up nicely with a bright New World personality. TASTING NOTES: The wine's berries and slight residual sugar are quite tasty and well balanced with just enough underlying tannin to keep it firm. Pair it with grilled hamburger topped with seeded jalapeños. (Tasted: April 18, 2018, San Francisco, CA)
