    Winemaker Notes

The nose greets you with dusty cranberry leading to a core of blackberry fruit, herbal undertones of sage and lavender rounded out with hints of dried red fruits. The first sip explodes with fresh red fruit, which continues into the mid-palate accompanied by spicy herbal complexities. The body is light yet full with a lifting acidity that keeps the mouth engaged, finishing with fruit and zestiness.

Pairs well with cedar grilled salmon, a hearty rib eye, earthy mushrooms, roast duck, wood fired pizza and lamb sliders.

Jesse and Aaron Inman grew up in the small, northern town of Yreka. Home to only a few thousand, Yreka is known for being the town that sparked the California gold rush’s movement north and later for its designation as the capital city of the proposed 51st State of Jefferson. Both brothers call Sonoma home today, but those early roots and appreciation for exploration and creativity remain.

Inspired and schooled by their uncle, respected winemaker August ‘Joe’ Briggs, the young winemaker brothers, learned the discipline of time and the rewards of following your own passion. Jesse and Aaron have been making their own wine together since 2006.

Internationally recognized for gorgeous, pure fruit combined with great elegance, California Pinot noir thrives among the state’s cooler, coastal zones. Characterized by eclectic flavors and aromas of strawberry, black cherry, plum and potpourri with notes of forest floor, mushroom or black tea, the best California Pinot noir boast a supple texture and good acidity, giving them the ability to improve with age.

Credited with the beginning of Pinot noir’s glory in California, two growers, Joe Rochioli and Joseph Swan in the late 1960s independently planted Pinot noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. Today Sonoma County remains the leading producer of Pinot noir in the state, and Pinot noir is the leading red grape in the county, achieving its highest potential, in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.

Other coastal appellations where Pinot noir flourishes include Carneros, Anderson Valley and most of the Central Coast.
