Winemaker Notes

This is a wine in the style of old-world Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon producing regions - fruity but elegant and with an excellent structure which will reward cellaring. The outstanding features of this wine are its structure, fine-grained tannins, low pH without high acidity, excellent color and pronounced fruit flavors. It should drink superbly for up to twenty years.Blend: 48% Merlot; 29% Cabernet Sauvignon; 23% Cabernet Franc.

This wine is from a tiny wine region halfway between the Margaret River and Great Southern regions of Western Australia. This blend offers notes of currant and dried tobacco, with undertones of cherry, baking spices and dried violet. The palate harmonizes power and elegance with fine savory tannins, bright acidity, tangy fruit and a long spicy finish. Several years in bottle have made this highly drinkable now but capable of aging until 2027.

One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.
