Winemaker Notes

Intense scarlet color. Aromas of fresh red fruit (strawberries, raspberries, etc.) and black fruit (blackberries) with hints of balsamic, aromatic herbs, and spice, culminating with notes of fruit compote in the back of the nose. Light entry in the mouth evolves slowly on the palate. Unctuous, fleshy and well-rounded, with hints of licorice, delicate tannins and pleasantly persistent fruit.

Recommended to accompany all types of red meat, game, stews, and aged cheeses.

Awash with juicy, mouth-watering flavour: fresh strawberry compote vibes, interlaced with dark berries, cherries and plums, underpinned by savoury, earthy tones. Long, well-defined and pure.

The 2023 Perlat GARNATXA shows a medium ruby color; offers fresh raspberry aromas with a delicate floral note and a sense of finesse; medium-bodied, smooth, and succulent across the palate; expressive boysenberry flavors unfold with charm; a slightly elevated, pleasing finish with a gentle lift. A herb-crusted rack of lamb with thyme, rosemary, and a light red wine au jus makes an ideal pairing, as the wine’s bright red fruit and floral notes complement the tenderness of the lamb, while its smooth texture and gentle lift echo the dish’s refined, savory elegance, creating a seamless and graceful harmony between dish and wine. Ripe, racy strawberries and cherries with a touch of grapefruit on the nose. Juicy on the palate, with fine tannins and a precise, expressive finish full of fruit. A tasty Montsant to drink now through the next few years.

Grenache thrives in any warm, Mediterranean climate where ample sunlight allows its clusters to achieve full phenolic ripeness. While Grenache's birthplace is Spain (there called Garnacha), today it is more recognized as the key player in the red blends of the Southern Rhône, namely Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône and its villages. Somm Secret—The Italian island of Sardinia produces bold, rustic, single varietal Grenache (there called Cannonau). California, Washington and Australia have achieved found success with Grenache, both flying solo and in blends.

Surrounding the region of Priorat on all sides, Montsant shares much in common with its neighbor. Though its soils contain less schist than that of Priorat, its old Garnacha and Carinena vineyards produce wines of similar intensity and character.
