Winemaker Notes
The 2022 Cabernet Franc opens with enticing aromas of red and black fruits inter- twined with hints of dried savory herbs and pepper. On the palate, vibrant notes of craisin and bright brambleberry are beautifully balanced by layers of baking spice and a subtle touch of lavender crème brûlée. The mid-palate showcases a lovely interplay of ripe fruit and spice, while the finish is long and complex, leaving a lasting impression.

Aromas of black fruit, toasted spices, black coffee and graphite. The full-bodied palate is textured and well-integrated throughout, yet shows some tightness and chewiness on the finish with cedary nuances.

The 2022 Cabernet Franc includes about one-fifth Cabernet Sauvignon, all aged 18 months in 45% new oak, a mix of French of American. Cinnamon and cedar accent black cherries alongside a slightly leafy note on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate features mouthwatering acids and pronounced tannins that dry out the finish. Undoubtedly proving its merit over and over, Napa Valley is a now a leading force in the world of prestigious red wine regions. Though Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley, other red varieties certainly thrive here. Important but often overlooked include Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties well-regarded on their own as well as for their blending capacities. Very old vine Zinfandel represents an important historical stronghold for the region and Pinot noir is produced in the cooler southern parts, close to the San Pablo Bay.
Perfectly situated running north to south, the valley acts as a corridor, pulling cool, moist air up from the San Pablo Bay in the evenings during the hot days of the growing season, which leads to even and slow grape ripening. Furthermore the valley claims over 100 soil variations including layers of volcanic, gravel, sand and silt—a combination excellent for world-class red wine production.
