Winemaker Notes

Rob Mondavi Jr. hand-crafted this Pinot Noir from select vineyards throughout Napa, Sonoma, and the Central Coast. Our 2011 Pinot Noir showcases the delicacy of the grape by allowing an extended ripening period on the vine. This will ensure a mellow approach and an intriguing underlying intensity of strawberry and date flavors. Aged in American Oak rounds out the mouthfeel by introducing tannin structure and a spiced yet lush finish.

This wine deliciously pairs with a wide range of foods including: Fish, Chicken, Pork and Beef as well as Mushroom or Pesto Sauces and Brie.

Approximately 5 million to 7 million homeless pets enter animal shelters nationwide each year, leaving millions of dogs and cats waiting to find a loving home. This important issue is one of the main reasons why we are supporting the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), by donating half of our profits from each bottle to help animals in need across the country.

Internationally recognized for gorgeous, pure fruit combined with great elegance, California Pinot noir thrives among the state’s cooler, coastal zones. Characterized by eclectic flavors and aromas of strawberry, black cherry, plum and potpourri with notes of forest floor, mushroom or black tea, the best California Pinot noir boast a supple texture and good acidity, giving them the ability to improve with age.

Credited with the beginning of Pinot noir’s glory in California, two growers, Joe Rochioli and Joseph Swan in the late 1960s independently planted Pinot noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. Today Sonoma County remains the leading producer of Pinot noir in the state, and Pinot noir is the leading red grape in the county, achieving its highest potential, in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.

Other coastal appellations where Pinot noir flourishes include Carneros, Anderson Valley and most of the Central Coast.
