The 2004 Gimmeldinger Mandelgarten Riesling Kabinett is even more overtly ripe in personality than the Eselshaut, yet retains a sense of elegance and transparency one associates with the word “Kabinett.” Esterous aromas of herbal distillates and flowers lead to a strikingly honeyed and rich, lightly creamy, yet billowing and elegant palate impression with intricate herbal, floral, and salty mineral nuances visible in sharp relief through a deep, crystalline pool of pear nectar.
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety.
