Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2007 Front Label
Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2007 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

A truly remarkable Shiraz. This powerful yet extremely smooth and aromatic wine fills your mouth with lovely ripe, sweet fruit. It will amaze you with its unctuous texture and silky tannins. The Blue Eyed Boy on the label is Sarah and Sparky's son, Luke.

Drink now through 2017.

Savory full-flavored meats such as roasted lamb, beef short ribs or even spice-rubbed or barbequed chicken. Our Shiraz's match very well with aged, hard cheeses from cow or goat's milk such as sharp cheddar, parma or manchego. Especially delicious with dried cherries, salted marcona almonds and dark chocolate.

The opaque purple-colored 2007 Blue-Eyed Boy Shiraz spent 12 months in 80% new American oak. It offers up an enticing nose of cedar, tobacco, mineral, blueberry, and black raspberry. Opulent on the palate, this glossy effort will evolve for another 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now and over the next decade.

This has a hot black pepper streak running through the meaty cherry, dense plum and spice flavors, persisting on the round, supple finish. Drink now through 2014. 6,072 cases made.

Marked by an unmistakable deep purple hue and savory aromatics, Syrah makes an intense, powerful and often age-worthy red. Native to the Northern Rhône, Syrah achieves its maximum potential in the steep village of Hermitage and plays an important component in the Red Rhône Blends of the south, adding color and structure to Grenache and Mourvèdre. Syrah is the most widely planted grape of Australia and is important in California and Washington. Sommelier Secret—Such a synergy these three create together, the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre trio often takes on the shorthand term, “GSM.”

Known for opulent red wines with intense power and concentration, McLaren Vale is home to perhaps the most “classic” style of Australian Shiraz. Vinified on its own or in Rhône Blends, these hot-climate wines are deeply colored and high in extract with signature hints of dark chocolate and licorice. Cabernet Sauvignon is also produced in a similar style.

Whites, often made from Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc tend to be opulent and full of tropical, stone and citrus fruit.
