Winemaker Notes

This wine screams with the essence of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and the deep dark garnet hue reveals the power of what is to come. The enticing nose beckons with abundant aromas of ripe berry, cherries, and blackberry jam, layered with clean wet earth. At first sip you are greeted with succulent tannins and vibrant flavors of black fruits, ripe plum, with hints of sweet vanilla, black pepper, and caramel in the finish.

Pair this wine with a perfectly grilled Kansas City Strip Steak and your favorite decadent creamy side dishes like truffle mac & cheese and creamed spinach.

Prominent aromas of black and green olives with black cherries, bark and mocha. It’s full-bodied with firm, well integrated tannins. Succulent with a flavorful, chewy finish.

Moving to the Cabernets, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is the appellation release and offers a vivid purple color as well as a beautiful bouquet of blueberries, red currants, violets, spring flowers, and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, silky, and just a terrific wine, it's going to drink nicely for 10-15 years or so.

Mi Sueno Winery Winery Image
The inspirational tale of Mi Sueno is both a love story and the story of the American dream realized, one that came to fruition for Mexican immigrant Rolando Herrera as a result of hard work, raw talent, and the support of a strong community of mentors who led him along a path to success. Along with his wife, Lorena, whose family has deep roots in Napa and Sonoma counties as grape growers, the two founded Mi Sueno Winery in 1997, the year of their marriage.

Together, Rolando and Lorena have built their dream winery with love, passion, and a deep understanding of the art of growing exceptional grapes and crafting award-winning wines rich in character and elegance. Today, their goal is to capture the essence of their six estate vineyards each vintage and to share their passion for handcrafting wines worth dreaming about.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
