E stablished in 1870, the Meletti family has been producing Italy ’ s most beloved liqueurs for over 150 years, across five generations.
The distillery was founded in Ascoli Piceno on the Adriatic coastal region of Le Marche by Silvio Meletti. Meletti ’ s vision was to source the finest, natural ingredients to utilize as blending agents in his limited - production artisanal cordials, aperitivi, digestivi, and liqueurs.
For a century and a half, this vision has been maintained by each gene ration, with the current CEO ’ s Matteo and Mauro Meletti representing the 5th generation of the family to carry forth the business.
The art of distillation, along with proprietary, secret r ecipes have been passed down through generations of Melettis. First prepared by 13th century Italian monks as herbal medicines and elixirs, Liqueurs are distilled spirits that have been combined with flavoring agents. A range of herbs, spices, nuts, fruits and flowers can be used, and a sweetener such as sugar or corn syrup is often added. While typically rather sweet, some examples are herbaceous or tart and pair exceptionally well with desserts or act as a delightful addition to cocktails.
