Winemaker Notes
Romeiko is indigenous to Crete and is a light red-skinned grape. After a Blanc de Noir vinification takes place we are left with a bright lemon-green color wine. The wine produced from this grape has a medium body, with a fresh, citrus flavor. The wine has some grassy notes along with light citrus fruits and marzipan.
Best paired as an aperitif in the company of good friends, fresh salads, or a light fish soup.
There are hundreds of white grape varieties grown throughout the world. Some are indigenous specialties capable of producing excellent single varietal wines. Each has its own distinct viticultural characteristics, as well as aroma and flavor profiles.
As one of Greece’s largest island’s, its wines enjoyed high glory during the Middle Ages. Today Crete is full of ambitious winemakers with the city of Heraklion as its viticultural hub.
