Winemaker Notes
You’ll encounter the Kerner grape around Germany and in other cool-climate wine regions, but it truly excels in Alto Adige. In a subregion known as the Valle Isarco, a narrow valley in the Dolomites pointing north toward the Italy-Austria border, Manni Nössing has established himself as the Kerner maestro. The combination of a Riesling-esque burst of lime with fragrant hints of tropical fruits, followed by a clean and crisp finish, make this white a refreshing match to a variety of delicious cuisines.
Recommended alongside spicy ahi poké, Italian-style crudo garnished with citrus, or your favorite winter salad.

Vinous
Decidedly green in the best possible way, the 2023 Kerner launches from the glass with zest of lime and sour melon, hints of young kiwi and spice. It washes across the palate with silken, nearly oily textures and ripe, citrus-inflected orchard fruits as a bump of juicy acidity adds energy throughout. Long and saturating through the close, the 2023 reveals its underlying minerality and leaves an impression of lovely freshness.
A cool-climate variety suited to the highlands of Italy’s Alto Adige, where most of it is now grown, Kerner also thrives in the German regions of Pfalz and Rheinhessen, as well as Austria and Slovenia. Kerner can show a variety of floral notes, as well as green apple, apricot, tangerine, tropical fruit and fresh herb.
