Winemaker Notes
Of a bright pale-yellow color, our Montagny 1er Cru La Grande Roche displays a floral nose with a hint of a sweet bun. This wine is ample and round on the mouth with exotic and white fruits aromas with a touch of vanilla. Very fresh with a slightly salty finish.

COMMENTARY: The 2019 Louis Latour Montagny 1er Cru Montagny La Grande Roche is generous and attractive. TASTING NOTES: This wine shines with explosive aromas and flavors of intensely ripe fruit. Enjoy it with lobster in a savory cream sauce. (Tasted: July 1, 2021, San Rafael, CA)
One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.
One of the top appellations for white Burgundy from the Cote Chalonnaise, Montagny is comprised of large number of Premiers Crus vineyards. Its wines (made of Chardonnay) tend to have a finesse and body not found elsewhere in the Cote Chalonnaise.
