Winemaker Notes

Fragrant and energetic, the nose has an abundance of lychee, kiwifruit and blackcurrant with lime curd and lemon sherbet. Thai basil, sliced fennel, gingerand citrus blossom sit neatly in the background. A gentle entry leads to a delicatelytextured mid palate. Bursting lemon, lime and grapefruit dominate throughout withbright acidity, a slightly savory line and a talc-like finish.

Starting in 2017, this wine has been labeled only Sauvignon Blanc, although it continues to include a bit of Semillon. The 2018 Siblings Sauvignon Blanc boasts textbook passion fruit and green pea aromas, a plump, medium-bodied palate and flavors of fig and nectarine on the dry, chalky finish.

This Sauvignon, part of Leeuwin's everyday drinking range, could be mistaken for a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Bombastic gooseberry, grass, green bell pepper and tomato leaf aromas charge out of the glass. Prickly, laser-like acidity is lean but refreshing, balanced by a slippery texture and a green herbal finish.

Grassy fresh herb notes add a bright green thread to the intense ruby grapefruit and pear flavors, accented by a powerful hint of freshly squeezed lime juice. Finishes with refreshing acidity. Drink now.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
