Winemaker Notes

Vibrant and perfumed with an abundance of dark cherries and blackcurrants, lifted notes of dried lavender, bay leaf, camphor, cumin and clove lie in sequence. Concentrated and dense, the pedigree of the fruit is evident. Layers of dark

currants, cherries and Satsuma plums weave between notes of dark chocolate, coffee bean, olive and cassia. A finely laced acid structure draws all components together leading to a seamless graphite finish.

This red draws cassis, currant, eucalyptus, dried violet, tobacco and graphite into a satiny texture and fine, elegantly structured tannins. It's juicy, medium in weight, long at the finish, classic Margaret River and unmistakably Leeuwin. Drink now–2028. Editors' Choice

This brisk cabernet captures the scent of the jarrah forest along the Margaret River coast, a cool, herbal and earthy savor that pervades its tart flavors of plum and strawberry. The tannins are tight, with the sleekness of pencil lead, carrying the fruit without getting in the way. Pour it with lacquered duck.

In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
