Winemaker Notes

The colour is intense ruby red with garnet tints. Displaying the classic Cabernet Sauvignon notes evident in the greatest growing years in Margaret River, the bouquet has lifted and intense blackberry, blackcurrant and mulberry fruits, with the enhancement of cedary French oak for complexity, intermingled with spice and dark chocolate. The palate shows a full bodied wine with intense blackberry and blackcurrant fruit with hints of mocha and chocolate that round off the complex flavours. This wine has great fruit length with smooth and silky tannins that provide a soft but lingering finish.

    Cellar Selection
Classic notes of lead pencil and black cherries open this elegant entry from Margaret River. Dense and concentrated in the mouth and embellished by hints of vanilla, this wine has a long, complex finish and the ability to improve significantly over the next 5-10 years.

Elegant, lithe, deftly balanced and distinctive for its open-textured display of raspberry, pomegranate, cedar and subtle spices, lingering on the refined finish against well-modulated tannins. Drink now through 2015.

In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.

Home to some of Australia’s most elegant and long-lived red and white wines, Margaret River is situated in the farthest reaches of Western Australia. Relatively warm and dry, the region is cooled by breezes from the Indian Ocean. Margaret River takes some inspiration from Bordeaux, producing top-quality Cabernet Sauvignons and Bordeaux Blends with firm structure, mouthwatering acidity, balanced alcohol and notes of herbs and spice. For white wines, refreshing blends of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as complex, age-worthy Chardonnays are regional specialties.
