Winemaker Notes

Deep red color with pretty purplish reflections. Intense and expressive nose. Very nice length in the mouth with a particularly pleasant finish. Black fruits (blackcurrant). On the palate it is dense, round and ample. Aromatic richness with spicy accents, the tannins are supple. Elegant wine of remarkable finesse.

Savory tones of chestnut skin, leather and fur contrast black-cherry and mulberry flavors in this blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. It's a decidedly old-world wine that's not afraid to show a bit of barnyardy rusticity, but delightfully so for those who appreciate. Best enjoyed now–2025.

With bold fruit flavors and accents of sweet spice, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre form the base of the classic Rhône Red Blend, while Carignan, Cinsault and Counoise often come in to play. Though they originated from France’s southern Rhône Valley, with some creative interpretation, Rhône blends have also become popular in other countries. Somm Secret—Putting their own local spin on the Rhône Red Blend, those from Priorat often include Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In California, it is not uncommon to see Petite Sirah make an appearance.
