Medium intense straw yellow. The nose is complex bouquet characterized by floral, citrus, tropical and mineral notes. The palate has good structure, savory, mineral, fresh and persistent.
Excellent with fish and white meat dishes. Also excellent as an aperitif and as an accompaniment to appetizers.

Albeit simple and very youthful, this is an excellent example from the Tuscan city of towers. Made with organically farmed fruit, the La Lastra 2019 Vernaccia di San Gimignano is fresh, sassy and even a touch spicy. You get great value here. The wine shows very sharp aromas of citrus, passion fruit and green papaya. But it's like green papaya with a few sprinkles of Hungarian paprika dusted over the fruit. There are mineral notes and a touch of bitter almond at the back. Sip it alongside a platter of raw oysters with a spicy vinaigrette. Rating: 90+
Vernaccia's intricate history is rooted in San Gimignano. The idyllic countryside upon which this vine grows was actually named Italy’s first DOC in 1966. Somm Secret—The 13th century marks its first written record and the grape was celebrated widely in literature, namely poems by Dante and Franseco Redi.
Producing some of Tuscany’s best white wines based on its own variety called Vernaccia, San Gimignano is a small appellation to the west of Chianti centered around the romantic village of the same name. Vernaccia produces a fruity and floral white with plenty of verve on the palate and often a fresh note of raw almond.
